In various places around the world, food is, or has been a public service. Read more about it here.

Poland – Bar Mleczny
The idea of good food as a public service isn’t new. In Poland, people have been going to Bar Mleczny’s, or milk bars, since the late 19th century, designed to provide people with affordable access to healthy food.

France – L’Après M
The idea that food should serve society, not the commercial interests of a small group of people, is not new. At the end of 2019, local residents occupied a McDonald’s to give the hamburger restaurant a social purpose.

Brazil
The right to good food has been enshrined in the Brazilian Constitution since 2010, and even before that, Brazil had laws obliging the state to guarantee good food for all Brazilians.

United Kingdom
During the First and Second World Wars, the British government introduced initiatives to ensure that the entire population was well fed.
